After our holiday to France, we had a pretty quiet end to the year. Liam enjoyed getting home and back to his friends, playing with Vegas and enjoying school. Rosie got back into her golf, having a few successes and generally enjoying the friendships.
It was a very sad October, with Blue suddenly having massive aortic split and going straight into hospital. They operated for 12 hours, but sadly Dad died on October 18th, 2012, just short of his 82nd birthday. It was a huge shock, since Mum and Dad were packing to go away on a caravanning holiday that morning and Dad suddenly didn’t feel well.
The family got together at Kim and Karen’s to on what would have been Dad’s 82nd Birthday, to remember to good times and the sad times. Mum seems to be coping as well as you would expect, but it never occurred to her that Dad would die before she did.
Liam is still involved in the cadets, which we think is very good for him. The cadets got all dressed up for the Margaret River Fun Run, where they were given the task of manning the water stations along the route. Strangely, the girls got more into it than the Boys, Liam as usual was completely disinterested in dressing up. Drew enjoyed the idea and got right into the spirit.
At the end of the year, Wendy and Bruce took the Cadets on a camp to Dunsborough where they enjoyed Bowling, swimming, Segway riding and the water park. It was all funded by the State Government as part of the funding for Cadets. Great for these kids.
When the summer holidays came around, we started out with our usual trip to Gnarabup Cafe, enjoying a milkshake and coffee while overlooking the ocean and surfing. Not sure why people leave Margaret River for a beach holiday anywhere. We have everything you could want here without the expense of accommodation.
For Christmas we went to Kim and Karen’s, it was great to catch up with everyone, it was a quick trip up and back since the business is flat out at this time of the year.
