At the end of our trip, we stayed in Bangkok for four nights since we still had hotel credits from 2020. We stayed at the Novotel Silom Road, which is reasonably cheap and has quick access to the freeway to the airport. The hotel is a bit run down now, but the pool was good […]
A Rest Day in Chiang Mai
Bruce had nothing planned for today so we just had a leisurely breakfast overlooking our laundry, which was drying out on the street across the road from our hotel. A swim in the pool, a walk to a really nice coffee shop, a massage and then a walk around town.
Yi Peng Festival – Chiang Mai
We were lucky to arrive in Chiang Mai on the last night of Yi Peng and Loy Krathong. Colourful lantern displays are set up at the Three Kings Monument, Thapae Gate and at all of other gates around the moat which encircles the Old Town district of Chiang Mai. Temples and households decorate their front entrances with coconut leaves […]
Pattaya Stay
We hadn’t visited Pattaya on any previous trips so Bruce decided to try this beach side town that is only 1 hour from Bangkok. We had been warned that it was a bit sleazy but sometimes it is good to experience these places. There are many golf courses between Bangkok and Pattaya and around Pattaya […]
2022 Family Update
Life is getting back to normal now, with Covid restrictions mostly gone. It is still tricky to travel overseas but Bruce has decided that it is time to step back into our overseas golf trips and is organising a trip for later in the year to use up our travel credits before they lapse. Bruce […]
2021 Family Update
Well 2021 was still in the grips of the Covid Epidemic and we were still restricted in where we could travel. Overseas was still a no go as well as the Eastern States so any holidays had to be within WA. Bruce is getting into growing tulips, he isn’t having much success but at least […]
2019 Golf Trip with McKillop’s
After a few trips away to play golf, Robyn thought it would be nice for Merv to join us on an Asian golf trip. Bruce planned out an itinerary of places that he liked or hadn’t been to before, so this trip we decided to go to Kanchanaburi (River Kwai), Hua Hin and Chiang Rai. […]
2018 Vietnam Golf Trip
In November Bruce planned the next stage of our World Golf Tour (Asian Leg). This time we decided to go to Vietnam. We started our tour in Saigon (Ho Chi Min City), but had a bit of a delay getting there. Our plane left Singapore and got all the way to Saigon, then Rosie noticed […]
2017 Hua Hin Golf Holiday – December
At the end of 2017, both Rosie and Bruce turned 60 so Bruce decided to take the last couple of weeks off school and go back to Thailand for another golf holiday to celebrate. We decided to go to Hua Hin this trip since Bruce had been discussing trips with other golfers and had heard […]
2017 July Golf Trip to England
In June/July this year we took our first major holiday without Liam. Neither one of us really likes looking at museums, churches or scenery so Bruce felt the best option was for a golfing holiday in Asia. Rosie wasn’t keen on this idea so he organised a trip to England via Thailand to test the […]
